Suited for Change provides professional clothing and ongoing
career education to low-income women to increase their employment and
job-retention potential and contribute to their economic independence. Our services are available, at no charge and
by referral only, to low-income women who have completed job training and/or
readiness programs and are seeking employment.
We accept women’s clothing
and accessories which are professional in nature, in excellent condition, not
more than two years old, dry cleaned, pressed and hanging on hangers. This includes suits, blazers, skirts,
blouses, dresses, dress pants, shoes, belts, purses, jewelry, scarves, and new
pantyhose.
We do not accept undergarments, casual clothing, formal wear, coats,
cosmetics or men’s clothing. We also do not accept bags or boxes of
clothing, and we do not accept
clothing at any time other than our regularly scheduled clothing drives.
In order to successfully
obtain employment, our clients must present a professional image during their
job interviews. Please help us to help
them by considering your donations carefully and donating only those items that
you would wear to a job interview.
To minimize any inconveniences our donation requirements may
cause, we have compiled a list of additional non-profit organizations that
accept clothing donations and could benefit from your generosity. Each accepts both professional and casual
clothing. Please contact these
organizations directly for more information about their specific needs.
