Highlights from Suited for Change's 31st Annual Gala
On May 31, 2023, with clear blue skies and a warm breeze, Suited for Change held our 31st Annual Gala at District Winery – and it was an incredible success!
After selling out tickets for the first time, it was wonderful to see our SFC family rally together to empower the women in our community.
The festivities included a wine tasting of District Winery’s select artisanal wines, delicious light bites, fabulous Silent Auction items, an incredible selection of designer handbags in our Pop-Up Boutique, and sweet treats from Chantel’s Bakery – it was hard to decide what to partake in first!
With the backdrop of the Anacostia River, paired with a gorgeous sunset – we couldn’t think of a better night to celebrate all SFC has accomplished thanks to YOU.
This year, the centerpiece of our Silent Auction was an exclusive donation from the Estate of Former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright.
Prior to her passing in March of 2022, she personally selected the Breaking the Glass Ceiling pin to donate to SFC as it closely aligns with our mission.
Crafted by glass artist Vivian Shimoyama, The Glass Ceiling Brooch is a symbol to promote the advancement of women and people of color, showing the glass ceiling in its ideal condition: shattered.
The cherry on top of the perfect night was hearing some of the impactful stories that have stayed with our volunteers for decades.
Not only do our clients leave the SFC boutique feeling empowered and prepared for their future, but our volunteers also have a long lasting impact from each and every client they so graciously serve.
While our guests all have various connections to SFC, we all share the same passion for lifting up the women in our community and providing them with the tools they need to secure and sustain employment.
Our Annual Gala has been a celebration of YOU and how vital each and every one of you is to keeping our mission alive.
