As I begin my new role as Executive Director of Suited for Change, I do so with a heart full of gratitude, a deep sense of responsibility, and tremendous excitement for what lies ahead.

When I joined Suited for Change as Director of Development, I knew I was becoming part of an organization with an important mission. What I quickly discovered was something even more meaningful—a community of people united by a shared belief in the power of women and the opportunities that can transform their lives.

I have witnessed that impact firsthand. I have seen the confidence of women preparing for job interviews and new career opportunities, the dedication of volunteers who ensure every client feels valued and supported, and the generosity of donors, funders, and community partners who make our mission possible.

These experiences have deepened my commitment to Suited for Change and reinforced something I believe wholeheartedly: When we invest in women, we invest in stronger families, stronger communities, and brighter futures.

It is both an honor and a privilege to lead this remarkable organization into its next chapter.

Honoring Our Legacy, Building on Our Strengths

As we begin this new chapter, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Liz Reinert for her leadership, dedication, and the lasting contributions she has made to Suited for Change.

Having had the opportunity to work alongside Liz, I have gained a deeper appreciation for the organization's history, its relationships, and the commitment required to sustain and advance our mission. I am grateful for her guidance and the foundation she leaves behind, and I wish her much happiness in retirement.

I am equally grateful to our Board of Directors for their confidence in my leadership and to our talented staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous supporters who bring our mission to life every day.

As we look ahead, our responsibility is not simply to preserve what makes Suited for Change special, but to build upon it.

That begins with an important question:

How can we create even greater opportunities for women throughout the Washington metropolitan region?

For me, the answer begins with listening, collaboration, innovation, and a continued commitment to meeting women where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be.

Leading with Purpose, Inspiring Possibilities

Throughout my career, I have believed that leadership is about more than a title or position.

It is about the lives we touch, the example we set, and the possibilities we inspire in others.

As Executive Director, my commitment is to touch lives through meaningful connections, lead with purpose and integrity, and inspire others to recognize the difference we can make together.

I believe in leadership that listens before acting, values different perspectives, encourages collaboration, and creates space for people to grow and contribute their best.

I also believe that meaningful progress requires both vision and action. We must be willing to build on what works, embrace new ideas, and thoughtfully address the challenges and opportunities before us.

My goal is to foster a culture where our staff and volunteers feel valued, our partners feel connected to our mission, and the women we serve remain at the center of every decision we make.

Because the strength of Suited for Change has always been its people, and our future success will depend on how we continue to invest in one another.

A Vision for Our Future: Opening More Doors

As I look toward the future of Suited for Change, I see tremendous opportunity.

I envision an organization that reaches even more women throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan region, ensuring that those seeking employment, career advancement, and greater economic independence have access to the resources and support they need.

I see opportunities to strengthen and expand our professional readiness workshops, personalized coaching, and suiting services so that they continue to respond to the evolving needs of the women we serve.

I envision deeper relationships with employers, corporations, foundations, referral partners, and community leaders—partnerships that not only support our programs but also help open doors to new opportunities.

Our greatest opportunity is not simply to help women prepare for what's next, but to work alongside our partners and community to open more doors. Every woman deserves access to the tools, relationships, and opportunities that allow her to build the future she envisions for herself and her family.

And I see Suited for Change continuing to grow as a trusted and recognized resource for women navigating their professional journeys.

But our vision must also be grounded in sustainability.

As we expand our impact, we must strengthen the organizational infrastructure, financial resources, partnerships, and internal capacity that will allow us to serve women effectively for years to come.

Our goal is not simply to grow bigger. It is to grow stronger, deepen our impact, and remain responsive to the women and communities who depend on us.

More Than a Suit. A Pathway to Opportunity

One of the things that makes Suited for Change so meaningful to me is that our work has never been just about clothing.

A suit may be what initially brings a woman through our doors, but what happens here goes far beyond what she wears.

It is about the confidence she gains when she sees herself in a new light.

It is about the encouragement she receives from someone who believes in her abilities and potential.

It is about developing professional skills, preparing for an interview, navigating workplace expectations, and building the confidence to pursue new opportunities.

And it is about reminding every woman who walks through our doors that her experiences, talents, and aspirations matter.

We are not simply helping women dress for success. We are helping them prepare for opportunities, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward economic independence.

That is the heart of our mission, and it will remain our guiding purpose.

Our Next Chapter Starts Together

While I am stepping into a new leadership role, I know that the future of Suited for Change will not be shaped by one person.

It will be shaped by all of us.

Our clients, whose determination and resilience inspire our work.

Our staff and volunteers, whose dedication creates an environment of encouragement, dignity, and possibility.

Our Board of Directors, whose leadership and commitment help guide our organization forward.

And our donors, funders, referral partners, and corporate and community supporters, whose generosity and collaboration make our impact possible.

In the months ahead, I look forward to listening, learning, strengthening relationships, and exploring new ways for us to advance our mission together.

As we approach the close of the year and look toward 2027, I hope you will continue walking alongside us. There are countless ways to make a difference—from volunteering and sharing your expertise to introducing new partners and investing in the programs that help women move forward. Every act of support strengthens our ability to create opportunities and reminds the women we serve that they have a community standing behind them.

I invite you to be part of this next chapter. Whether you volunteer your time, share your expertise, introduce us to a potential partner, support our programs, or help spread the word about our mission, you have an important role to play in creating opportunities for women across our region.

As I begin this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the trust placed in me and optimism for all that we can accomplish.

We have a strong foundation, an extraordinary community, and a mission that is as important today as ever.

Together, we will honor our legacy, embrace new possibilities, and continue opening doors for the women we serve.

Empowered Women. Stronger Families. Brighter Tomorrows.

Here's to the next chapter—and to all that we will accomplish together.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Natalie N. Bennett
