We had the pleasure of welcoming seven students from DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) to the Suited for Change boutique earlier this month. It was wonderful to have the boutique filled with joy as each student transformed their confidence through professional attire and mock interviews. From clients and referral partners to volunteers and staff, everyone had a blast!
When the first DCCK student, Jashon, walked out in her first suit, everyone was taken aback and her case manager exclaimed
“you look like a CEO!”
Throughout the rest of their visit, each student felt that same transformation take place when they stepped out of the dressing room to show off their new clothing.
The SFC team then joined the DCCK students for an intensive morning of professional job coaching, including a presentation from Michelle Brown focused on interview techniques and individual mock interviews conducted by our SFC mentor coaches.
With this added guidance, each student’s confidence grew tremendously and thanks to the combined efforts from SFC and DCCK, each student is now equipped with the necessary skills to tackle the next steps in their professional career.
