A Thank You to Our Supporter

Joan Nathan




Another supporter shoutout! This time we are highlighting the fabulous Celebrity Chef, Joan Nathan, who has been a supporter of SFC for many years.


Joan Nathan is an expert on Jewish cuisine and culture, the author of eleven cookbooks, and a regular contributor to The New York Times and Tablet Magazine.

Back in 1994, Nathan’s cookbook, Jewish Cooking in America, won both the James Beard Award for the best American cookbook and the IACP/Julia Child Cookbook of the Year Award.


Following the success of her cookbook, PBS hosted a television series exploring Jewish culture and history in the United States through the lens of food. Criss-crossing the country, Nathan visits the kitchens of celebrities, chefs, and other great Jewish cooks who share wonderful stories and recipes with a rich heritage.


In 2017, the same book was named a “Culinary Classic” by the IACP.
