Community Event: Civic Suds

Last month SFC’s Board President, Alauna Vallot, our Executive Director, Liz Reinert, as well as additional members Diedra Yates, SFC Board Member, and Fernanda Parreira Menezes, SFC Marketing and Program Manager, traveled out into the community to partner with Civic Suds as they prepare to launch their new community program at Good Hope Laundromat.
Once completed, Civic Suds will serve disadvantaged families by transforming the Good Hope laundromat into a space for learning and growth. By fusing a laundromat and a community center, Civic Suds equips their guests with actionable information and valued skills.
At their kick-off event last month, Civic Suds gave away books, school supplies, and SFC had a pop-up satellite boutique for community members to browse through until they found their perfect fit!
Once Civic Suds officially opens its doors, it’s our goal at Suited for Change to establish a satellite boutique and offer coaching sessions at their location.
We cannot wait for the many more partnership events to come!

I really love the creativity behind turning a laundromat into a space for learning and support—it shows how everyday places can become powerful community hubs. I feel like, just like in Ragdoll Hit where small interactions can lead to bigger outcomes, initiatives like this can have a meaningful impact on people’s lives, and I truly admire the vision behind it.
